A Championship Season
Melbourne, FL October 16th, 2018– H8 Cancer Racing is a championship winning team once again. At the final race of the season Brandon Kennedy in the GP-25 secured the title winning the championship by over 60 points!
Our team set out this season to win it all for Kiers Rowley and we delivered! After losing the heart of this team in Kiers prior to the season the team came together to put their best foot forward in winning. After a couple races Brandon suffered a near catastrophic blow to his championship hopes as his boat caught fire. After spending some time that night in the hospital Brandon returned to race the next day. Again with no luck Brandon blew his spare engine. With 1 week inbetween races the team did not give up. Their engine builder Serge Blanchette came to the rescue rebuilding the motor hurt in the fire and getting them to the next race with the help from their friends on the GP-9 team of Line Mayer! From there Brandon and team dominated winning every heat they entered until they locked up the championship! Total domination after near end of season damage shows the heart of this team and what Kiers taught us to NEVER GIVE UP and DON'T STOP BELIEVIN!
In H-350 Paul Barber and Derec Smith had good a good year. Both showing speed and making finals as well as sitting on the podium but unfortunate DNF's from various issues kept them out of the hunt for the championship.
Karson Kennedy set out in 2018 to have a better season than 2017 with a boat that was completely redone by husband Brandon. The changes worked making the boat more stable and fast. Karson showed great speed all year but not enough to consistently make finals in the tough Formula 2500 class. She was pleased with her improvement in the class and will continue to improve in 2019!
